Simrad HALO 2000/3000 Radar Software - v8.2.0.33

Simrad HALO 2000/3000 Radar Software - v8.2.0.33

Release Date: 2 October 2025

Version: 8.2.0.33

An issue was discovered with ethernet communication between Halo 2000 & Halo 3000 radars and NSS 4 & NEP-3 when using the new M12 8 pin Ethernet Cables. Using this configuration, the Halo 2000 or Halo 3000 was not seen on the network. The issue was due to a condition where the Halo radar incorrectly negotiated an unsupported communication speed. This has been fixed in Halo 2000 & Halo 3000 software version 8.2.0.33.

Please note that it is not necessary to update the radar unless connecting to NSS 4 or NEP-3 using M12 Ethernet cables. There are no additional benefits if the Radar is connected using yellow ethernet or through NEP-2.

Upgrade Procedure NSX, NSS4

Note that to upgrade the Radar, it must be connected using a yellow ethernet cable, not via an M12 cable, as the radar cannot communicate through an M12 cable until the update has been done. If possible, it is preferable to do the update using an NSS/NSO Evo 3/3S as above.

  1. Connect the MFD to the internet by selecting a valid WiFi network under settings > Connectivity > Wifi
  2. Select software updates from settings > General > Software Updates.
  3. Here you should see the Halo 2000 or 3000 8.2.0.32 update listed. Tap on Update now
  4. The update box will come on screen. Select Update
  5. The device will show the update progress. When complete a message will be displayed ‘Device update successful. Select ‘Finish’
  6. This completes the process.
